14th Annual Annie Awards E-mail

The 14th Annie Awards Ceremony will be held on October 16, 2013. The Annie Awards are open to the public and free to attend. We welcome you to this honorary event in which we recognize 6 outstanding community Arts members. The Annnie Awards begin at 6:30pm with Grants presentation to follow.

Since the year 2000, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County has awarded six Annie Awards each fall to honor achievements of artists living and working in this area.  In the years following the first Annies, the awards have become known throughout the country, serving as a model of recognition and encouragement. The Annies carry a great deal of prestige, and honor individuals who have made a lasting, significant and inspiring contribution in their respective fields of art.

The Annie Awards are sponsored by the Arts Council as part of their mission to foster and promote culture and the arts in Anne Arundel County. Nominations are drawn from the community, and honorees are selected by committees of highly regarded artists and arts patrons.  Previous Annie Award winners are consulted frequently throughout the process. Six awards are presented to county residents:

  • Visual Arts - Painter, sculptor, printmaker, potter, photographer etc.
  • Literary Arts - Poet, journalist, author, playwright, screenwriter
  • Performing Arts - Musician, dancer, director, conductor, storyteller
  • Arts Educator - Teacher, administrator, instructor, volunteer
  • Arts Patron - Contributes time, talent, energy and/or money
  • Lifetime Achievement - Living or posthumous

Nominations are solicited in the spring of each year and are announced in the area press and on the Arts Council web site.   Nominees must be residents of Anne Arundel County and be regionally and/or nationally recognized in their field.
